The Customer
The KZBV is a public-law corporation headquartered in Berlin. It represents the interests of around 63,000 contracted dentists in Germany and coordinates the responsibilities of the 17 regional Associations of Statutory Health Insurance Dentists across the federal states. As an umbrella organization within the statutory health insurance system, it plays a key role in ensuring dental care throughout Germany.
Our Job:
- • Replacement of the legacy CMS and development of the website based on WordPress
- • Modernization while maintaining the familiar appearance
- • Implementation as a “soft relaunch” with updated design
- • Hosting and implementation of comprehensive security measures
- • Setup of a ticketing system for project coordination
- • Integration of web analytics tools and implementation of GDPR requirements
Main Focus:
A key aspect of the project was the **accessible implementation** in accordance with the current WCAG 2.2 and BITV 2.0 standards. Accessibility was fully integrated into the development process and consistently considered—from design to technical implementation to testing. Key focuses included correct contrast ratios, semantically clean HTML structures, and complete keyboard navigation. In addition, functions and sections were prepared for content in plain language.
Implementation in WordPress
The website was completely rebuilt in WordPress. To ensure high performance and maintainability, we deliberately avoided visual page builders. Instead, we used Custom Post Types and Advanced Custom Fields to represent content in a modular and editor-friendly way. This created a clear separation between design and content while providing editors with a high degree of flexibility.
Enhanced Website Features
As part of the relaunch, we implemented various features. These include accordion elements for structured information display, responsive tabular overviews, and a WooCommerce-based webshop for ordering brochures. Additionally, we integrated a newsletter signup with double opt-in and GDPR-compliant data processing, as well as an internal site search function.
Sicherheit, Datenschutz + Hosting
Die Website wird auf deutschen Servern unseres Partners Hetzner Online gehostet und erfüllt die hohen Anforderungen an Datenschutz und Stabilität. Regelmäßige Backups, eine geschützte Serverumgebung und Sicherheitsmechanismen sorgen für einen zuverlässigen Betrieb. Durch gezielte Maßnahmen zur Absicherung des Systems stellen wir einen dauerhaft sicheren und DSGVO-konformen Betrieb der Website sicher.
Security, Data Protection & Hosting
Even after the relaunch, we continue to support KZBV with ongoing monthly service. We regularly ensure the system’s security and up-to-dateness, keeping all components fully current. In addition, we continuously work on minor improvements and optimizations—ensuring the website remains dynamic, technically up-to-date, and steadily enhanced over time.
